Xmas All Year - Cozy Quilt

I just saw the post for the new Curtain Call Inpiration Challenge and was totally inspired by the quilt theme.  The challenge is open until Feb. 25th.  Please click on the link here for details.

When I scrap, I like to have a candle going in my room and, as my last candle was all gone, I went to get a new one and found a cute jelly Xmas candle (pictured below).  That is entirely how I came up with the idea to do a Christmas card!!  It's so fun to make holiday cards any time of the year (except last minute).

I cut 5/8'' strips of paper from the Authentique 6x6 Wonder Collection and weaved them alternating patterns.  I don't think I've done this since grade school, so it was a lot of fun!  It probably would be a lot easier with wider strips, but I like the intricacy of the narrower ones.  If you were really keen, you could stitch it on your sewing machine too.  I used a scrap piece of paper cut down to 5x5 as a base for the quilt.  Afterwards, I mounted on red cardstock and pasted it to a green 5 1/2'' square card (I thought a square card would be more quilty!)  I love MFT's cardstock (I used Red Hot and Gumdrop Green).

My label frame comes from PaperTrey Ink - Simply Jane die collection.  The sentiment can be found on My Favorite Things - Clearly Sentimental about Christmas stamp set.  I added the Vintage Flourish die, which is also from MFT.  A few pearls and rhinestones (Hero Arts Pearls & Gems - Mixed Earth Accents) and a sparkly cardinal (Recollections) and I called it complete.

Thanks for the chance to win and a good excuse to make a Christmas card!

Shabby Chic Card

I was inspired today to do something shabby chic.  Truthfully, I'm not that great at doing this style.  I adore it and always am in awe of my fellow crafters who make such wonderful pieces.  If one wants to improve, one must practice.  And practice I shall!  So I decided to make a card that I will enter for the Mojo Monday 332 challenge and the Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Challenge (scroll down for pictures below).

I've done a lot of ink and staining using various techniques (fancy ones like rubbing and dripping, lol…).  I actually decided to do the Lindy's challenge when I chose my lady card because of the colors in it.  I am a big fan of purple, and although I could have went with pink, I decided to substitute for a more purply colour.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Stain in Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, and Tumbled Glass on the tag and lady card.  I created some rough edges on the lady card by using my Tim Holtz distressing tool.    In hindsight, I probably could have done more rough edges on the tag too.  But I will learn.    From Lindy's, I used Starburst Stains in Creme Brûlée, Baby Blue Eyes Blue Gold, and Magnolia Magenta Gold on the card base, tag, and seam binding (which was originally baby pink).  I also used Creme Brûlée Magical Mica Powder on the doily and tag.  I love the shimmer!

My twine was too thick for my button, so I separated it into two pieces and used one on the button and one of the tag.

I decided to add some rhinestones to the headlights…just for fun!  And I added a sentiment, 'Just Fabulous', because I didn't really want to make it for anything in particular.  I made this with a scrappy friend in mine.  :)  Oh, if you are wondering about stamping on vellum, just use Brilliance and let it sit a  few minutes.

Here is the sketch.  Details available by clicking here.

And the colour challenge can be found here.

Thanks for the fun challenges!

Have a scrappy Sunday!

Love U a Latte

Happy Valentine's Day!

Who doesn't love coffee?  If you don't, then you definitely shouldn't be reading this...lol, just kidding.  No judgement.

I am a huge coffee lover.  My boyfriend also likes to drink it too.  Except he puts cream and sugar in it.  I drink it black.  To each his/her own.

I was sleeping the night before and the idea for this card just came to me.  So I had to made it last night before bed.  Card details to follow the pictures.

Have a happy day!

xoxo Mu-aahhh!

Santa's Helpers 12x12 LO

As I cleaning up my scrapspace, I came across this lovely pic of my two coworkers and myself.  I just love how matchy-matchy we are with our cute little aprons.  The title popped into my head right away.  Our job at the school Xmas parties was, in fact, to help Santa.  (Yes, he did make an appearance!)  Although I started off my searching my 12x12 LOs pinboard on Pinterest, I just decided to do something different.  Only the corner parts were something I had seen the day before on a layout pin.

My theme of course was red and a bit of green.  I found these Basic Grey clear pieces and was totally inspired.  It was a softer green, a little minty, and I loved it.

The days of the week stamp came from a Studio Calico Project Life kit, as well as the December alphas (Basic Grey).  The number stamp can be found an exclusive Studio Calico stamp set.  I added some stars and dots using my Memento Dual Marker.  This striped masking tape is from DAISO Japan (can't beat 100yen).   I had a hard time picking ink for this tape though and ended up using Staz On in Cloudy Sky.

I was tempted to do some stitching, but found myself too lazy to take out my machine as usual.  Instead, I used the roller piercing tool (what is that thingy called?) under the title and in both corners.  I used American Crafts Hardcover and Marquise Thickers.  Using a scrap piece of vellum, I was able to line up my title before placing them permantly.  I didn't want to lose any, so I also added a bit of Tombo Glue on the backs of each one. The snowflakes all come from Lawn Fawn.

This would veneer tab also came from a Studio Calico Project Life kit.  I added a small pearl and another snowflake.

Masking the taped section, I stamped half of this today medallion seal just for a little something.  I handwrote the year.

I used my piercing tool to add these tiny silver brads to the label piece.  I wanted to show off the ''Gotta Love It'' flag and I like the look.  Before placing this canvas camera sticker, I dabbed it with Creme Brulee Starburst Stain from Lindy's Stamp Gang (can't really see in the pic).  And I offset it for an accent piece.

Here's a close-up of all the flags, banners, and arrows going down the side of the picture.

This will be a memorable pic for years to come - I love my girls!

MFT Sketch Challenge

Hi, everyone!  This is for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club (MFTWSC) number 162.  Here is the sketch.
MFTWSC162

After deciding on the image I wanted to use, I turned the sketch on its side.  I thought a horizontal card would work better in this instance and I am very happy with the results.  This girl comes from the Pure Innocence Aim High stamp, but her head was switched with the PI Pinwheel.  The reason behind this was I had boo-booed on her forehead and instead of re-stamping an image, I cut off one from another I had in stock.  I actually like the way her hair is moving in the wind.

The paper comes from the My Minds Eye - Fly a Kite collection (how appropriate is that?)  I used the cloud paper as the base square.  I love the fun kid patterns of ABCs and stars, so I incorporated them using my MFT Fishtail Flags Die-namics.  Then after trimming my paper, I used the scrap piece that comes at the top where there is a hole in the pad as my sentiment spot.  ''Go Fly a Kite'' can be found on the MFT The Great Outdoors stamp set.  Oh, and I used baker's twine and popped up the kite to give it a more 3D effect.

Thanks for the challenge, My Favorite Things!!

A Few Cards

Hello, my loves.

This Sunday was spent in my craftspace just having fun and creating.  I stamped images out the weekend before, but never got around to using them.  So when I had time this weekend, I knew I was going to make some cards.

The first card was actually for a Mojo Monday challenge (331).

Unfortunately, I was unable to upload in time to join, but I still completed it on time.  That's okay, I super love the card I made!

I had a dogtag in my die cut bin and thought to use it in the sentiment along with the wood veneer.

I added a few different embellishments in a cluster and I love how it looks.  I had to add that sparkle cupcake button too.

 Her cupcake cake sparkle too!

She got a rhinestone heart for her hairpiece.

I am a big fan of The Cat's Pajamas and although I only have a couple of them, I love seeing this bunny and his giant ears.

The striped die-cut was a freebie included with an internet order way back when I first started scrapping…but I kept it and finally found the perfect use for it.

I thought it would be cute to have hearts coming out with the smoke clouds.  :)

I also added sparkle to his nose!

I liked using this saying on the inside.

This is the first time maying a Twilight-inspired card.  It was so much fun to colour.

I knew Edward's face should have sparkle.

I actually cut Bella's hair and moved the bang portion lower down on her forehead creating a gap where I added light purple beneath to match the paper and glitter on top to match Edward.

I was thinking about which sentiment I should use with one of the greatest love couple ever…I thought this went perfectly.

Thanks for checking my cards out!  What will you make this week?

Cuppa Cocoa Curtain Call

Happy 2014!!  It's been a while since I posted on my blog…but I was really inspired today when I came across Jody Morrow's post on Facebook (thanks, Jody!)  It took me to her blog where she shared the February Cuppa Cocoa Curtain Call Challenge (click on link for more information).  Here was the inspiration photo:

photo source:  aerie by American Eagle

We could make any project, so I went with a card.  Since MFT is sponsoring this one and I didn't want to use the same stamp as Jody, I went with the WTG Gets Cozy with Cocoa stamp set.  The sweater and patterned base paper comes from Prima North Country and the grid paper is from the Basic Grey Basics (The red and white were just scraps).  I paper-pieced the sweater, scarf, gloves, and mug. I coloured the cocoa with my copic marker (E25 Caribe Cocoa - appropriate, right?)

I added a little snowflake embellishment sent to me from a scrappy friend and secured it with baker's twine.

After adhering it to some scrap paper, I used some baby pinky shears to trim around the circle.  Then I popped it up using some foam pieces from The Sticky Store.  I like how the pale red circle looks on the paper doily.

The label piece was cut out from the Prima North Country collection (6x6) and was the perfect size and colour for my card.  This is my favourite saying from the stamp set because doesn't everyone want to cuddle while drinking hot chocolate?

On the inside, I used a scrap piece on the inside and added some Recollections glitter tape.

And the finished card…

Thanks for the fun challenge!  Hope you are inspired too!
