Sugar and Spice Challenge #8 - Christmas in July

So…guess what??  This time around Sugar and Spice is doing an almost month-long challenge with a big Christmas giveaway on July 25th.  (Because it's a Christmas in July theme, of course!)

Here is the project I came created for the challenge.  I am going to try and do as many projects as I can, so consider this Day One (not sure if I can do 25, but I'll try…)

I altered a notepad in non-traditional colours and it looks super cute.  :)

PS Toot Toot Beep Beep

My second card for the Designer Drafts challenge on Paper Smooches Sparks using the inlaid stamping technique with the Spiffy Scooters stamp and Spiffy Icons die.  After die cutting my Basic Grey paper, I stamped within the area and paper pieced/coloured my scooter.  I layered a yellow polkadot paper vertically behind.  I also used the tiny star to do some stamping down the bottom.  By double stamping, it almost looks like I used two different inks.  But it's just the one - Memento Summer Sky.  My favorite part about this card is the popped cloud with Toot. Toot. Beep. Beep. on it.  :)  It just wouldn't be the same without it!

Using my leftover diecut piece, I created on last card.  I paired it with an oldie but goodie, MFT You Move Me, which has lots of coordinating sentiments to use in combination with Paper Smooches Spiffy Scooters, as well as the handy tire mark used below.

PS - Just Roll With It

Here's my first card using Spiffy Scooters by Paper Smooches.  This is for the Designer Drafts challenge.  Here's the sketch:

I love this set.  It was so much fun putting together.  I used plain light grey and dark grey from my scraps, as well as some Basic Grey paper to paper piece the scooter.  I blinged the lights and mirrors with MME Record ''All Things Chalk'', Doodlebug Mini Pearls Spring Assortment, and some rhinestones.  I did my sentiment below the scooter with some clouds on both sides.  I layered a vellum polkadot piece from Daiso underneath.   Drop by to join in the challenge!

OneHappyCraftyChick's Clean & Simple Challenge

Hi, everyone!  Sherri here to share my card for Carol's CAS (Clean and Simple) card challenge.  She said that it should be able to fit into a regular envelope and be able to go through the machine…but I am not sure whether this qualifies for the simple and clean part…  Does it count if you do stamping, watercolouring and Magical Micas??  It wasn't that hard.  I guess it was simple then.  Okay, maybe yes!!  (Feel free to comment below.)

Here it is…

In honour of my American friends, here is a card just for you (cuz I couldn't care less…Canada Day is July 1st).

No haters.   I really do love my American friends!!

Sugar and Spice Crafty Challenge #7 - Patriotic

''True Patriot Love''…a section taken from my national anthem, O Canada.  I have made my cards today for the new Sugar and Spice Patriotic Challenge with this in mind.  Only a few cards, simple and sweet, as an expression of my nation's love.

The first incorporates some maple brads, sent from my mom, as an emblem of the national flag, the Maple Leaf.  I added some odd gemstones and pearls to represent the Canadian peoples' uniqueness and sparkle.   And using an alphabet set, I individually stamped out the letter's of our anthem's name.

The second card using a Mimi Inuit (eskimo is taboo) and seal pup.  I paired it with a cute Studio G stamp that reads 'this way to Canada' along with an arrow pointing north.  Call this a stereotype, perhaps what our less-educated neighbours to the north imagine (I have heard some crazy stuff first-hand!)  We do not live in igloos, nor do we have snow year-round - in fact, we have four distinct seasons.  So this Mimi, indeed, is a friend of mine…and my neighbour of the north.  She's watercoloured and layered on black along with some corrugated board.

My third card mostly incorporates the colours of red and white.  I wanted to do something impartial. :)  It was a lot of fun stamping with hexagons.  I made the sentiment 'Happy Days' and tied on a piece of sheer ribbon.

Since I took footage of the process making all three cards, I'll edit my video and upload to the makescrappygoodness channel and link here once done.  :)

I am so very curious to see what all the other participants are coming up with…it was so much fun thinking about cards to represent my home country!  It really makes me want to go home for a visit!!  Wish I could celebrate July 1st together with friends and family!

Clean & Simple Coffee Sleeve Mini Album

Mini albums are so much fun to make.  But coffee sleeves are even more fun to use if you want to make a cute little gift for someone special.  Today I used Pink Paislee's Hello Sunshine ephemera and sticker sets that I purchased from Butterfly Reflections Ink (she still has them in stock)…the same collection given away from Vanessa of BRI as the prize goodies for Sugar and Spice Challenge (#3)!
It's super cute and fun to play with!  I love that there are both paper and acetate pieces in the ephemera diecut pack.  And there are a ton of choices, including sentiments, in the sticker pack.

Here is my cover and a couple pics from the inside:

Here is an overview of the album on myscrappylife:

Bookmark Buddies

A while back, my boyfriend asked me to make him a bookmark like the tag I made for my brother.  He only asked it be a lot thinner.  So I made him one.

Although he first said he liked it, he later told me that it was too big.  So I started making a smaller tag and that was too big too, I guess…I said I would trim the edges off to make it narrow.  He also thought it would be a good idea just to make the character a bookmark.  So I ended up making two.  I think they turned out so cute!

Here's the narrow bookmark.  It was a regular (roughly 2 1/2 x5 1/4 inch) tag, but I trimmed it just at the angled part so it measures 2 x 5 1/4 inches. I added some PTI star edge and MFT chevron border strip die cuts to the tag.  First, I covered the tag with the cool textured netting paper sent to me recently from a friend.

Here's the bottom back (cuz books are fun!)

Here's the lone character.  I made him to stick on a tag/bookmark originally…otherwise I probably would have tried to keep the back clean.  I was wary of putting a hole through his head (a bit morbid?)…but it doesn't look strange.  I figured if I taped the string on the back it would eventually come off.

Front:                                                                          Back:

And here they are standing upright together (oh, I guess I could have taken a pic of them in books, huh?)  But they do look like buddies, don't they?  :)

These would be a cute little gift/addition for your male friends, since they aren't very girly.  But feel free to make some pretty ones!

Supplies:  Stamp (TGF, Stampology); Diecuts (MFT, PTI); Copic Markers; Paper Piercer (WRMK); Twine (Supply Owl, Other); Ink (Tsukineko); Paper; Tag; Glue.

Sugar & Spice Crafty Challenge #6

The theme is Sweet Treats!!  And how sweet it was making these two tags for the Sugar and Spice Crafty Challenge.  Click here to be taken to the challenge entry.

Using the Lawn Fawn Sweet Christmas stamp set, I made a super cute Holiday tag.

I decided to colour all of my gingerbread characters different shades of brown using E31, E33, and E37.  I added mini pearl accents from Recollections and Doodlebug.

I used the same markers to colour my gingerbread house.  I tried making a woodgrain look on my door and added a goosebump to the doorknob.  I traced the loops until the windowsill with my GellyRoll pen for the icing look.

Since I love adding gumdrops to the rooves of my houses, there was no choice but to add them to my tag.  A little bit of Distress Stickles gave them just the right amount of sugaring!

I lieu of a snowbank, the doily adds a nice handmade touch.  I had the lollipops coming down the hill with a  couple of candy canes criss-crossed.  I used some gold tinsel twine on the hole for a little bit of sparkle.

The second tag uses a Tiddly Inks stamp (not sure of the name).  I used my Faber-Castell watercolour pencils and a brush pen for the colouring.

I finished it off using diecut pieces from my diecut tin and a stamp from an MFT set (the 'have a sweet' is the same one  used on my first tag).  I added a single Seria accent for some sparkle.

Thanks for dropping by!  If you feel like a sweet tooth, head on over to the blog and join in on the scrappy fun!  :)
